The 18th Japan Media Arts Festival

Call for Entries Starts from July 7, 2014.

The Japan Media Arts Festival is a comprehensive festival of Media Arts that honors outstanding works in the four divisions of Art,Entertainment, Animation, and Manga, as well as providing a platform for appreciation of the works that have won awards.Since its inception in 1997, the festival has recognized significant works of high artistry and creativity and in addition to a yearly Exhibition of Award-winning Works has held other events, such as symposiums, screenings, and showcases.
We begin the 18th Festival with our call for entries. Entries are sought from professional, amateur, independent and commercial creators from across the globe.Works completed or released between September 13,2013 and September 2, 2014 are eligible for entry in the four divisions – Art, Entertainment, Animation and Manga.

Through a rigorous judging process by a 5-member jury for each division,Award-winning Works will then be selected based on their artistic quality and creativity.In late November, we will announce the winners of Grand Prizes, Excellence Awards, New Face Awards and Special Achievement Awards, as well as other Jury Selections. Award-winners will receive prizes from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports,Science and Technology.

The Exhibition of Award-winning Works will be held at the National Art Center, Tokyo(Roppongi, Tokyo) from February 4 to 15, 2015.

Award winners will receive opportunities to exhibit their work at numerous festivals both in Japan and around the world.

We look forward to a variety of works with a wide range of expression of media arts, including interactive art, video, games, web, animation and manga.

By the end of the application period, an especially dramatic increase in the number of overseas applications: from 83 countries and regions a record number of 4,347 works submitted for the 17th Japan Media Arts Festival.

The Japan Media Arts Festival continues its evolution as an established annual international festival.
