BRINK XR is seeking a 3D Environment Artist to help create highly realistic real-time 3D environment assets to be featured in our VR & AR travel apps.

In this role, you’ll primarily be responsible for creating and editing 3D environment assets for final real-time scene assembly in Unity.  You’ll frequently work with high resolution photogrammetry scan data to help clean and fix issues in geometry and textures, and manually improve details where needed.

The ideal candidate will have a strong 3D generalist background with experience in modeling / texturing / shading, have the ability to work within our production pipeline, demonstrate a portfolio of highly realistic 3D environments, have experience working with photogrammetry (both creating and editing), and have a solid understanding of best practices for delivering clean and optimized assets for real-time engines.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of highly photorealistic natural environments for delivery to real-time engine.
  • Editing and cleaning generated photogrammetry assets.
  • Building and maintaining a 3D asset library for reusable elements like rocks and foliage.
  • General 3D art assistance as needed.

Qualifications

3D Generalist Background

  • Strong artistic eye and knowledge of creating photorealistic 3D environments.
  • Expert level 3D graphics knowledge in programs like Maya, Houdini, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Mari, Photoshop, etc.
  • Efficient poly modeling, UV layout, and retopology practices.
  • 3D mesh sculpting and editing in ZBrush.
  • Texture painting and projection methods in Mari or Substance Painter.
  • Realtime shading.
  • General experience with real-time engines (Unity in particular) and final asset delivery.
  • General experience with physical cameras / lighting / rendering engines / texture baking.
  • Online samples demonstrating proficiency.

Photogrammetry Experience

  • Experience with photogrammetry processes in Reality Capture.
  • Experience with (or willingness to learn) Houdini and node-based workflows for editing of 3D photogrammetry assets.

General

  • A love of the great outdoors and travel, and a desire to preserve and protect the amazing places of the world.
  • Self-managing and eager to show their own ideas and vision for a capture.
  • Comfortable working remotely within a Windows pipeline – including remote networking and version control software like Perforce.
