Steel Wool Studios is looking for a 3D Environment Artist to bring our game titles to life. Our ideal applicant will be skilled in a range of styles and experienced in the game environment art pipeline. In addition, this person must be able to work both independently and alongside other designers and engineers to implement a variety of different gameplay functions. Our office is located in the Bay Area, Oakland, CA, but we have adapted to working from home, so remote candidates are encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Produce high quality and optimized game environments in UE4
Create game ready models and assets in a variety of visual styles while addressing feedback in a timely manner
Proactively collaborate with a cross functional team to share knowledge and work towards the betterment of the project as a whole
Work with engineers and designers to implement level designs into the engine
Optimize and maintain the studio’s environment asset pipeline
Requirements:
3+ years of industry experience
In-depth knowledge of the environment art pipeline including modeling, shading, and lighting
Highly proficient in UE4, Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush, Substance Painter, and/or other 3D software
Working knowledge of hardware limitations for current and next-gen devices
Self-driven with the ability to work independently for extended periods
Pluses
An avid gamer with a passion for creating great games
C# knowledge
Experience with working alongside outsource teams
Adept at working in a fast pace, iterative environment
Experience working with Virtual Reality environments and platforms including Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Sony PlayStation VR
